Generally speaking, it is difficult to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of materials only from the appearance of industrial belts. Because both domestic and foreign materials can achieve the same appearance (color, surface) with the naked eye.In addition to a small number of senior industrial belt experts, they can distinguish whether the belt is imported materials from the touch of the belt.


It should be noted that although the materials made in China have made great progress than before, the quality of domestic materials still lags behind that of foreign materials in the field of industrial belts through years of practice and comparison. Domestic Steel Wire VS Foreign Steel Wire:


1. Raw Material And Composition Control

A. Wire Rod Quality Difference‌

·Imported steel wire: adopt high purity wire rod, strictly control carbon content fluctuation (± 0.01%) and sulfur, phosphorus and other impurities (sulfur content ≤ 0.005%),reduce central porosity, cracks and other defects, and ensure  material homogeneity.

·Domestic steel wire: the composition of wire rod fluctuates greatly, there are segregation, inclusions and other problems, and the impurity content is high (sulfur content is about 0.01%-0.02%), which affects the toughness and fatigue performance stability of steel wire.

B. Alloy Element Accuracy

·Imported steel wire: niobium, titanium and other elements are accurately added through microalloying technology to optimize the microstructure and properties;

 · Domestic steel wire: there is still a gap in trace element control and uniformity.


2. Production Process And Technical Standards

A. Heat Treatment Process

·Imported steel wire: the automatic temperature control technology is adopted, and the fluctuation of furnace temperature and lead temperature is less than or equal to 5 ℃,ensuring that the sorbite conversion rate is greater than or equal  to 90%, improving the strength and fatigue resistance.

·Domestic steel wire: low temperature control accuracy of heat treatment (fluctuation ≥ 10 ℃), unstable sorbite content, resulting in insufficient toughness.

B. Drawing Equipment And Accuracy‌

·Imported steel wire: use a linear wire drawing machine to avoid axial torsion of the steel wire, and the diameter tolerance is strictly controlled within ± 0.01mm.

·Domestic steel wire: the product line drawing machine is often used, which is easy to produce torsion during drawing, with a diameter tolerance of ± 0.03mm, and uneven stress is easy to cause early wire breakage.


3. Performance And Durability Comparison

A. Mechanical Properties

· Imported steel wire: higher tensile strength and strong stability (such as s355jr steel), excellent fatigue life.

· Domestic steel wire: the tensile strength fluctuates greatly, especially high-strength steel wire, and some products are prone to early fatigue fracture.

B. Corrosion Resistance And Surface Quality‌

·Imported steel wire: smooth surface, often with galvanizing/painting treatment, and long anti-corrosion life (such as European standard IPE I-beam).

·Domestic steel wire: the surface roughness is high, additional anti-corrosion treatment is required, and the durability is weak.
